Hi Nanna Review: Emotionally Rich!
Hi Nanna intricately weaves emotions as “Natural Star” Nani delivers another heartfelt performance. This time, he navigates the complexities of marriage and shattered relationships, delving deep into the life of a single father. The storyline tenderly unfolds as he opens up about his past, unraveling the layers of a failed marriage to his daughter.
Let’s start with the positives. Hi Nanna mainly excels in the entire cast’s performances. To no one’s surprise, Nani’s emotive prowess radiates in every scene, captivating with his authentic display of emotions. Mrunal Thakur, continuing her winning streak in Telugu Cinema after Sita Ramam, mesmerizes with her heartfelt portrayal, infusing charm, grace, and depth into every scene. Also, Kiara Khanna, who plays the daughter, Mahi, stole the show with her stand-out performance, showcasing remarkable talent beyond her years and adding allure to this emotionally rich narrative.
Cinema wins.
We will win.

Moreover, the film excels not just in performances but also in its technical brilliance. Sanu Varghese’s cinematography astounds, infusing a unique, modern aesthetic with a color palette that harmonizes seamlessly with the movie’s emotional profundity. The production and costume design complement the narrative impeccably, enriching the film’s vibe. Hesham Abdul Wahab’s music and background score stand out, offering deeply touching tunes that blend and enhance every poignant moment.
Like I said earlier, Hi Nanna delves into intricate relationships, offering profound character studies with well-crafted arcs. Its emotional depth is punctuated by exciting twists and turns, making for a thrilling two-hour-thirty-five minute journey. However, this emotionally charged ride might not be everyone’s cup of tea. While the film delivers on depth, some, including me, found it a bit stale, with segments before the interval that may feel less engaging.

Overall, Hi Nanna stands tall in emotional depth, fueled by stellar performances and Hesham’s evocative music. Shouryuv’s debut is a triumph, sculpting a narrative replete with profound emotions and nuanced characters. While Jersey (2019) holds a special place as a personal favorite, this movie approaches its emotional resonance admirably, a testament to its captivating storytelling.
