Crew (2024) Review: Some Decent Fun!

Crew (2024) revolves around three airhostesses, played by Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kriti Sanon, who find themselves entangled in dire circumstances leading them down the path of smuggling gold for an enigmatic figure. However, upon facing the brink of peril, they collectively decide to redeem themselves by orchestrating a daring heist to reclaim the stolen gold and bring the perpetrator to justice. In a whimsical twist, the film humorously draws parallels to an alternate universe where India’s infamous fugitive, Vijay Mallya, is apprehended by the cunning maneuvers of these resourceful women.

Crew boasts a stellar ensemble cast with each leading lady delivering decent performances, notably excelling in their chemistry and camaraderie. The supporting actors such as Rajesh Sharma, Diljit Dosanjh, and Kapil Sharma add depth to the story with their commendable portrayals. Furthermore, the movie maintains a brisk pace, and the integration of classic remixes, “Choli Ke Peeche” and “Sona Kitna Sona Hai,” add to the entertainment value overall.

While the story was decently entertaining, Nidhi Mehra and Mehul Suri’s focus in the latter half could have delved deeper into the intricacies of the heist planning, providing more tension, thrill and satisfaction. The execution of the robbery appears slightly rushed, missing opportunities for heightened suspense.

Crew (2024) emerges as a well-crafted crime comedy, representing a significant milestone as the genre’s first Bollywood woman-centric film. If you embrace the film’s whimsical story without scrutinizing for logic you could fully immerse themselves in its delightful charm and the captivating performances of its incredibly talented female leads.
