Boomika Review: Not Appealing to Watch!
To be honest, I’d never heard anything about Boomika on Netflix before. Today, a notification popped up on my phone, and that’s when I looked into this movie. Oh, it has Aishwarya Rajesh? She’s a good actress and a Filmfare award-winning performer. Oh wait, Karthik Subbaraj produced this? Okay. So- for a couple of minutes, my expectations were high. Not gonna lie.

If you’ve noticed, I try to take it easy when I’m pointing out whether the acting in a film is good or not. I’m going to keep it plain here- Aishwarya Rajesh delivers a decent performance. Nothing extraordinary. Just good. The others- well- sorry to say, they sucked. None of the characters in Boomika are compelling or even slightly likable. Especially that Aditi character who’s constantly screaming about, adding nothing, and doing nothing.
Moving on to the genre. Marketed as a horror film, Boomika offered close to nothing as far as horror goes. The only moment which gave me a slight bit of chills was that one scene where they’re taking a selfie. If you saw the movie, you’ll know what I’m talking about.
So, Boomika on Netflix is unintentionally and sadly bland and funny. It offers neither thrills nor horror. Not to completely criticize this film, but the visuals offer some peace. The CGI was decent, and the camera work in this movie.
Now, the message and the overall theme of Boomika are not that bad on the whole. Written and directed by Rathindran R. Prasad, what sucks is that it could’ve been executed better. Sadly, Boomika isn’t interesting or appealing to watch. Nothing worth remembering or discussing happens throughout the entire runtime.
Overall, Boomika on Netflix isn’t a good movie as it offers nothing but a few unintentional laughs. The only thing that’s redeemable in the entire film is the cinematography, Roberto Zazzara did a fantastic job capturing the visuals. However, besides that, it’s not worth giving it a shot.
‘Boomika’ Rating – 1.5/5
