6 Underground on Netflix Review: A Mad Entertainer!
Directed by Michael Bay, who is notoriously known for directing bombastic action movies is back with yet another action flick – 6 Underground, which will not disappoint you in terms of entertainment. Written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the film has an ensemble list of the cast, including Ryan Reynolds, Ben Hardy, and Melanie Laurent, and is now available to watch on the global streaming mega lord, Netflix.
The storyline of 6 Underground kicks off with the Billionaire CEO – One (Ryan Reynolds), trying to recruit six individuals with specific combat skills, and eventually fakes their death to bring down a deadly gang of criminals. They come together for a risky mission of ousting the Dictator of Turkistan and make his democracy-loving brother the President. The remainder of the storyline showcases One’s team trying to succeed in this suicidal, precarious mission.

The film begins with a high-voltage, nerve-racking chasing sequence which had me glued to the screen. The initial fifteen minutes of the movie was probably the best of the entire narrative. And Michael Bay’s love for designing these enormous action set pieces is visible from that lights-out opening scene. From racing cars to whizzing bullets and even flying people, the scene has it all from start to finish and is an absolute treat to watch.
Throughout the entire runtime, Michael Bay tried to duplicate similar action sequences and succeeds in doing so, making it a complete action entertainer. Bay proved to be one of the pioneers when it comes to making kick-ass action films, and 6 Underground is just another case in point of his tremendous ability to direct, an entertainer which gives you that adrenaline rush.
While the one-sided plot of the film sound risky and an insuperable task to execute, the chemistry and the comradery between the six characters make the movie tolerable to get through. But, by focusing more on trying to deliver a spectacular action film with extravagant production design, the writers overlooked the screenwriting attribute of the film that could have helped it considerably more.
Furthermore, Ryan Reynolds and the remaining cast were impressive through and through and played their respective parts well. They are smart, insightful, and gave a quick comic relief with their wit now and then. Also, the film is decent with regards to the technical aspects; the cinematography, the elegant production work, and the incredible action sequences made the film breathtaking to watch.
