The rebooted 'Don' franchise is the most celebrated not only amongst SRK's fans but also between general audience and ever since 'Don 2', fans have been eagerly waiting for its third installment with Shah Rukh Khan again playing the anti-hero. Though Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani had earlier said that they are working on the script, it is now reported that Farhan has locked the final script of the film.

According to an anonymous report, Farhan Akhtar has apparently locked down the script for the movie and has got an approval from Badshah Khan as well. The report quoted a source saying, “He had bounced the idea off to SRK, who liked it. Farhan had taken a break from acting and channelized all his energy into developing the script for this film of the Don franchise. He has finally locked the script and things are moving in the right direction.”

But, as we reported a few weeks back, Priyanka's character Roma will not be a part of the film as her services will not be needed this time. “The storyline is such that it doesn’t need Priyanka’s character. It’s likely to have a new cast, which will be locked soon," the source added.

The report further reveals that the actor-director will also star in the film, "Farhan will also act in this film. He will play a desi top cop to Shah Rukh’s Don. Since a portion of the film will be set in India, Farhan will be seen donning the policeman’s uniform in the film.”

Expected to go on floors from mid-2019 the film will hit the big screen in 2020.

Last seen in Prakash Jha's 'Jai Gangaajal', the 35-year-old Hollywood superstar and our Indian Desi Girl Priyanka Chopra is back in India as she ready to get prepared for her next Bollywood project and she is excited to return to her hometown with plenty of scripts in her hand.

A trusted source told a leading daily, “Priyanka has been keen on doing a Bollywood film for a long time but due to her other commitments, she has not been able to give dates. She has decided to read few more scripts and lock her dates if they interest her. Besides, she will also actively be involved in the developments of her production house Purple Pebble Pictures, along with her mother.’’

As per her latest social media post, it seems that the rumors are true as she recently shared a picture captioning, “Which one will it be? Homework.’’

Priyanka also released a statement saying “My plan is to straddle two careers: one in India and one in the U.S. I know that sounds absolutely crazy, but I'm going to make it work. I can't and won't let either one go, even if it kills me,” Priyanka had earlier said about her career in Bollywood and the West.

Deepika Padukone to Replace Priyanka Chopra in 'DON 3'!?

Last week we reported that 'DON 3' is in works and producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani are pumped for their upcoming project. Most likely the film's production will commence next year and the producers are finalizing locations in Malaysia, Abu Dhabi and Dubai for the movie.

But, it is now being rumored that a newcomer will replace Priyanka Chopra as the lead actress and also as Don’s love interest. It is also being speculated that 'xXx: Return of Xander Cage ' actress Deepika Padukone is strongly being considered for the role.

Well, it's disheartening to not see Priyanka Chopra as the "Jungli Billi" but Deepika seems to be a much better fit. Director and Producer Farhan Akhtar recently spoke on the sixth anniversary of 'DON 2' and stated the following about the sequel “It will happen sooner than you know as we have started working on the script and the story. I think we need to crack the story as the responsibility is more (to get it right for the third part). With the next film in ‘DON’ franchise, we won’t take that much time, we will make it fast.”

'DON 3' to Start Production Very Soon!

'Don' and 'Don 2' were smash hits back in 2006 and 2011 and fans have been eagerly waiting for the third installment in the franchise as the makers were entirely iffy about making another sequel. But, rumors say that the makers finally started working on the script and are expected to give the final narration to Shah Rukh Khan in the next few months.

A source close to the production said “We have locked the basic idea of the film and shared it with Shah Rukh Khan. The story this time around is set in the Middle East and a major chunk of the film would be shot in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The script is currently being worked on and we plan to go on floors sometime next year.”

Talking about Priyanka Chopra, the source said, “Since the story is set in a different region, it doesn’t warrant her character. We shall decide on the final casting of the film once the final script has been locked.”

When asked if 'Don 3' will be Shah Rukh Khan’s next film after 'Zero', the source said, “The two scripts that he is considering currently include 'Salute' and 'Don 3'. There is a huge possibility of 'Salute' going on floors before 'Don 3'. He shall announce his next film only after finishing the shoot of 'Zero'.”

The latest reports from the tinsel town suggest that the sequel is on the cards and Peecee is being considered to return, which is the exciting part.

According to reports, producer Subhash Ghai is already in talks with Priyanka Chopra for the second part of the film. “It’s a new story with a new title. Subhash Ghai has already had a word with Priyanka Chopra and the two have discussed the film. She loves the idea of a sequel to a film which won her accolades for her performance in a negative role and is excited to feature in the second installment of the franchise. She is keen to collaborate with Ghai again and has even told him that she will try working on her dates,” a source reveals to a leading daily.

Jai GangaaJal - Movie Review

Verdict - "Agonizing and disappointing"

With the ongoing trend of making a strong female character driven films, Bollywood had a pretty good track record in the past couple of years where movies like Queen, Mardaani, Tanu Weds Manu, Piku and many more garnered both critical and commercial success.

Although Priyanka's last women-centric film "Mary Kom" was a bit of a disappointment, my expectations for "Jai GangaaJal" were considerably high, not only because of PC's compelling look but also because it's directed by Prakash Jha who is a pioneer when it comes to directing realistic political dramas. So, did Jai GangaaJal meet my expectations?

*Cue dramatic music* In the world where corruption doesn't have a sympathetic conclusion, where policemen are forced to follow the line drawn by politicians, where people are contrived to follow their leader's orders arrives a fearless women police officer who was placed in between a group of reckless police officers and hard-nosed politicians. Will she prevail over? Or will she fail? Watch it in "Jai GangaaJal".

Here are my complaints, the story line of the movie had new to offer, it is flat-out boring and failed to seize my attention. And with a mundane script, the run time of the film is unbearably long as I kept checking my watch constantly. It never required a 2hr, 40 minutes extended stretch as they're many unwanted scenes that could've been sliced in the editor's room. When it comes to the screenplay of the film, it was all over the place with a complicated vibe that would've been avoided. They're certain scenes in the film that didn't have a definite conclusion and ended abruptly and few scenes that were just randomly placed.

And on the bright side, the performances from the complete cast were satisfactory. Priyanka Chopra was impressive with her brave, gutsy persona but her character was not well thought out and totally missed the emotional part. Prakash Jha's performance was surprisingly good and his negative character was particularly intriguing to watch.

Overall, Jai GangaaJal is not a movie that I rush you to go and watch. This political drama had few imposing aspects like the performances but was a major let down on a narrative standpoint and moreover it is too long that made me more agonizing. I'm sorry, but this movie didn't work out for me.

Dil Dhadakne Do - Movie Review

Verdict - "DDD is just one step away from being a failure. Thanks to the cast and the distinct approach of the movie."

Affluent look, gigantic cast, ingenious crew and with an eighty-six crore budget things should never go wrong for any movie. But in the cinematic universe that we live in right now, everything is uncertain, movies may disappoint and indeed can turn into a disaster (take Bombay Velvet as an example.) So my expectations were extremely low for Dil Dhadakne Do and I never envisioned it to be good. But with the benefit of doubt, I ended up liking the movie and cherished it for being authentic.

Advancing with a bumpy journey of love and hate, Kamal and Neelam Mehra (prominently known as The Mehra's) decide to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary on an extravagant cruise as they invite their arduous family and covetous friends to join them on their journey of splendor. But?

The two leading ladies of the movie -- Zoya Akhtar, and Reema Kagti made sure that their message was up-front in the movie and they never felt timid to display the distinct side of a well-heeled person. Moreover, it was interesting to watch the silliness and lunacy between these people and the way it was executed was totally amusing.

Here's my problem with the movie. All the fun, love, emotion, despair and empathy can be a solid two-hour long entertainer. But this movie stretches far too long till it reaches an exasperated place of tedium. It is nearly three-hour long for no clear reason and struggled deliriously during its runtime.

But a pleasing and a satisfying climax is the most worthy and essential aspect for a conflicting movie. For a second time, the finale was never satiating for the entire movie and felt unexpected.

Backed up with tremendous star power, performances from the entire cast in the movie were astounding to watch. Everyone had a moment or two to shine and the chemistry between them worked well as they're believable as a family.

Nevertheless, Dil Dhadkne Do is a refreshing movie with an admirable message, lavish look, and amusing humor. But the 172-minute runtime and few mundane parts makes the movie a little tiresome to watch. Keep your expectations low and you'll never be dissatisfied.

My Rating - 3/5 | Grade - B (Worth a watch!)

Mary Kom - Movie Review

Verdict - "Typical yet an inspiring biopic!"

As I specified this for the thirteenth time by now, this year from tip to toe belongs to women-centric movies. They're just getting better and better every single time, the best part about this ascendancy is that, there is some inspiring message conveyed on every occasion. Well! they're many more to come and I'm totally delighted that they're getting the seamless attention and appreciation they deserve.

What more can you expect from a biopic? A stirring tale filled with struggle, emotion and passion? That's exactly what you get from Mary Kom, nothing more or less. But, what's noticeable about the movie? That depends on your approach about the movie and the way you get along with the storyline.

Screenwriter Saiwyn Quadras role is significant here, it all depends on how he appends all the little details in the movie with the significant ones. The screenplay is quick on the mark as it didn't really waste much time exploring a single detail like the other movie did last year. *wink*

But it's a bit typical, you can effortlessly summarize and expect what the movie is going for. I'm not criticizing it, but it's a bit traditional that biopics are only told that way. The movie do have few imposing moments scattered all over it, but in the end the finale is always the same. And that's how this genre operates, deal with it!

But on a serious note, I appreciate and could connect to the real-life character of Mary Kom while watching the movie. Watching her go through all these appalling situations in life made me ruminate and I was completely dumbfounded. Also the credit goes to Priyanka Chopra and director Omung Kumar for putting me in that condition throughout the whole movie.

Also there's a lot of criticism surrounding with the fact that the movie is enclosed with many unknown/new actors except for Priyanka. In my opinion, it was a great move, considering the main attraction of the movie was only Mary Kom, did I mind watching other characters being played by new actors? No! Would I like to see a prominent actor play that role? Sure, why not. But what they actually did with the casting choices was completely understandable.

Now the big question is that will Priyanka be honored for what she had done in this movie? And my answer will probably be yes, as this is one of the best performances of the year and also from her career. She was totally astonishing throughout the movie and with all the anticipation, I concur that this is the perfect movie that she should be rewarded for her hard work and determination.

Nevertheless, Mary Kom (Movie) is an imposing biopic told in a precise and in a superior way. The screenplay is not indolent and the direction is incisive to some extent. The movie doesn't deliver something contemporary, but it's a vital movie which I recommend everybody to watch.

Gunday - Movie Review

Verdict - “A painful watch! Nowhere near it's soaring expectations”.

They are Calcutta's most loved, most celebrated, most reckless, most fearless, most powerful Gunday? I'm totally misled!

After the severance of Bangladesh, The movie kicks off with the destitute kids Bikram (Ranveer Singh) and Bala (Arjun Kapoor) who were raised by smuggling guns. After few surplus and offensive sequences, Bikram and Bala disembark to Calcutta as they eventually become the most reverenced gunday and gain popularity throughout the city.

Being bounded by many criminal activities, Bikram and Bala reaps the attention of the new ACP Satyajeet (Irrfan Khan) as he conceives few thoughts to divide them and arrest red handedly with needed proofs. Eventually this leads into many predictable twists and turns which concludes our movie in a stereotypical way.

Contrary talk! Because of the astounding promos and music I was totally pumped up from the movie. Expected something epic and massive and what I actually got from the movie was totally diverse. It was dull, unsurprising, totally predictable and perfunctorily blame the director-screenwriter Ali Abbas Zafar for everything that had happened. He totally got it wrong with his writing which ultimately costed him a highly anticipated movie.

The writing was terrible at times, mainly with all the twists and turns, it was ridiculously predictable. Or maybe that's the point of Mr. Zafar? It was a certaonly throwback to the 70's actioners, but we've seen these kinda stories floating around every year. Not a good thought to repeat the same old formula! The dialogues were weak and after a brief amount of time it gets customary.

And I can slightly appreciate him for the attempt, the set designs, costumes and the whole technical department was well directed. But the lack of a fresh newfangled storyline and pioneer writing ability bothered me the most and in addition to that, why is the slow-mo cam used excessively? Isn't that outdated?

On a positive note, performances from the cast were decent. Ranveer Singh was in fine fettle, his charisma added a lot to the movie, altough his performance can slightly be compared to his previous movie Ram-Leela, it was good seeing him play these explosive roles. Arjun Kapoor was not that impressive during his emotional scenes, but he offered a lot to his creepy arrogant role. Priyanka dazzled in her intro song and her character was deep and required.

To conclude, despite it's hype and few satisfying scenes, Gunday ends with a disappointment which I'm deeply saddened with. The uninteresting plot included with several foreseeable twists makes it a painful watch if you're not interested in accustomed movies. Totally for the masses and I unfavorably don't recommend checking it out!

My Rating - 2/5
