Farhan Akhtar Squashes All DON 3 Rumors! Says the Sequel Is Not Happening!

Alright, listen up freaks! Yesterday we reported that Farhan Akhtar has finally down the script for 'Don 3' which has been in works for a very long time. The last movie in the franchise came out in 2011 for god sakes, can we get a sequel already?

But, taking to the chaotic online world called Twitter, where people usually moan and cheer for what they want and what they don't want, director Farhan Akhtar had made clear not to spread false rumors about 'Don 3', cause he believes that it's not fair to raise expectations of the film's fanbase via false news. Check out his tweet:

"Request those who conjure up news about #Don3 without any fact checking to please refrain. It is not fair to raise expectations of the films fanbase via false news." - @FarOutAkhtar

So, the film is not happening, at least for now. But, I still believe in Farhan that someday he will officially announce the film when he's ready with the script and the cast. Till then, let's hope for the best!

Farhan Akhtar Has Finally Locked Down the Script for DON 3!

The rebooted 'Don' franchise is the most celebrated not only amongst SRK's fans but also between general audience and ever since 'Don 2', fans have been eagerly waiting for its third installment with Shah Rukh Khan again playing the anti-hero. Though Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani had earlier said that they are working on the script, it is now reported that Farhan has locked the final script of the film.

According to an anonymous report, Farhan Akhtar has apparently locked down the script for the movie and has got an approval from Badshah Khan as well. The report quoted a source saying, “He had bounced the idea off to SRK, who liked it. Farhan had taken a break from acting and channelized all his energy into developing the script for this film of the Don franchise. He has finally locked the script and things are moving in the right direction.”

But, as we reported a few weeks back, Priyanka's character Roma will not be a part of the film as her services will not be needed this time. “The storyline is such that it doesn’t need Priyanka’s character. It’s likely to have a new cast, which will be locked soon," the source added.

The report further reveals that the actor-director will also star in the film, "Farhan will also act in this film. He will play a desi top cop to Shah Rukh’s Don. Since a portion of the film will be set in India, Farhan will be seen donning the policeman’s uniform in the film.”

Expected to go on floors from mid-2019 the film will hit the big screen in 2020.

Deepika Padukone to Replace Priyanka Chopra in 'DON 3'!?

Last week we reported that 'DON 3' is in works and producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani are pumped for their upcoming project. Most likely the film's production will commence next year and the producers are finalizing locations in Malaysia, Abu Dhabi and Dubai for the movie.

But, it is now being rumored that a newcomer will replace Priyanka Chopra as the lead actress and also as Don’s love interest. It is also being speculated that 'xXx: Return of Xander Cage ' actress Deepika Padukone is strongly being considered for the role.

Well, it's disheartening to not see Priyanka Chopra as the "Jungli Billi" but Deepika seems to be a much better fit. Director and Producer Farhan Akhtar recently spoke on the sixth anniversary of 'DON 2' and stated the following about the sequel “It will happen sooner than you know as we have started working on the script and the story. I think we need to crack the story as the responsibility is more (to get it right for the third part). With the next film in ‘DON’ franchise, we won’t take that much time, we will make it fast.”

Zoya Akhtar's 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' was one of the beloved films back in 2011 as the film was majorly successful both critically and commercially. Even after 8 years of its release, the film is still fresh in our hearts due to its contemporary story and characters. Both Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar have expressed their desire and passion for a sequel as now it seems like Zoya Akhtar has given a serious thought for a sequel to the movie.

According to an anonymous source, “Zoya feels that the audience would be keen to know what the characters are up to in today’s time. The sequel will retain all the characters and the story will take a 10-year leap."

'DON 3' to Start Production Very Soon!

'Don' and 'Don 2' were smash hits back in 2006 and 2011 and fans have been eagerly waiting for the third installment in the franchise as the makers were entirely iffy about making another sequel. But, rumors say that the makers finally started working on the script and are expected to give the final narration to Shah Rukh Khan in the next few months.

A source close to the production said “We have locked the basic idea of the film and shared it with Shah Rukh Khan. The story this time around is set in the Middle East and a major chunk of the film would be shot in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The script is currently being worked on and we plan to go on floors sometime next year.”

Talking about Priyanka Chopra, the source said, “Since the story is set in a different region, it doesn’t warrant her character. We shall decide on the final casting of the film once the final script has been locked.”

When asked if 'Don 3' will be Shah Rukh Khan’s next film after 'Zero', the source said, “The two scripts that he is considering currently include 'Salute' and 'Don 3'. There is a huge possibility of 'Salute' going on floors before 'Don 3'. He shall announce his next film only after finishing the shoot of 'Zero'.”

Lucknow Central - Movie Review

Verdict - "A Disorganized Mess"

Helmed by the debutant director Ranjit Tiwari, 'Lucknow Central' starring Farhan Akhtar and Diana Penty in the lead roles is a prison escape-musical drama and is loosely based on the true story of a jail-based band known as "Healing Hearts" who resided in Uttar Pradesh.

After wrongly being convicted of a murder of an IAS officer. Kishan (Farhan Akhtar) an aspiring singer, who now serves his death penalty in the Central Jail of Lucknow will be given an opportunity to form his own band accompanied by few other jail inmates of his choice to take part in a band competition administered by the Chief Minister of the State. Although his decisive dream is to form a band and to display his talent, Kishan also prepares a plot to break out from the prison with his other band members equipped with unique abilities which are helpful for their departure. Will his plan to escape from one of the most dreadful prisons in Lucknow prevail?

Advancing to the many problems I had with the film. I'll address a few here. First off, I don't recall the movie really well and that's a major problem, don't get me wrong they're moments in the film which are clearly motivating, the storyline of Farhan Akhtar and his ambition to start his own band and to perform in front of a live audience was delightful. But, the supplementary storylines that added to the primary plot were uninteresting, forgettable and lackluster to watch. The whole prison-escape storyline felt underwhelming for me. And the supporting characters, although developed decently, felt insipid because of the lack of dynamic between them.

Moving on to the performances from the cast, Farhan Akhtar gives a decent enough performance to make his character look better, Diana Penty had nothing left to do as she works well with her minimal involvement. The other supporting actors like Deepak Dobriyal and Rajesh Sharma didn't shine as much as I wanted them to.

Overall, Lucknow Central is an underwhelming film with a disorganized storyline and weak directorial effort by Ranjit Tiwari. The film doesn't have good enough reasons for me to recommend you guys to go watch it in a movie theatre.

Rock On 2 - Movie Review

Verdict - "A monotonous and a lot less exciting sequel."

Marketed as a sequel to the 2008 surprise musical hit "Rock On!!", Rock On 2 directed by Shujaat Saudagar hit the screens this Friday after years of anticipation and eagerness from fans including myself. I still remember the time back in 2008 when almost every song from the film was a chartbuster and when the movie proved to be a neoteric trendsetter for the younger generation. So nearly after eight years of build up will the film deliver to its expectations or will it evaporate as just another unadorned sequel.

The film opens up with KD (Purab Kohli) reintroducing us to the main characters of the film with him enduring his passion by producing music with a bunch of beginners, Joe (Arjun Rampal) now a successful owner of a music bistro and a judge of a singing reality show and Aditya who isolated himself from his family looks after a small town welfare community in the state of Meghalaya. On the flipside, we also get introduced to Jiah (Shraddha Kapoor) and Uday (Shashank Arora), two young passionate upstarts who somehow come across KD, Joe and Adi looking for an opportunity. How will the introduction of Jiah affect the lives of the trio? Will they reform Magik?

What made the previous film extra unique was its laid-back vibe and the simple yet emotive storyline that felt relatable. But with the sequel the story parted in few different directions with none of them ended up being interesting or compelling. The characters were weakly written with no engaging factor, the dialogue was substandard and the climax was far-stretched and easily predictable. Although the direction from Shujaat Saudagar was decent, it didn't really help the film relatively which winded up as a monotonous and an unexciting sequel.

On the other hand, regardless of the songs not being remarkable when compared to its original and my opinion is that the music is not too bad or catastrophic as people complain. It was more contrast and fitted well with the storyline. The performances were acceptable from the complete cast throughout the film and left me with no further complaints.

Overall, Rock On 2 felt like a letdown in few aspects of writing and storyline  when compared to its predecessor. Even though it had few watchable moments once for every twenty minutes, I wouldn't recommend you to go rush to the theatre to check out this film, but a casual cable watch on a cozy comforting evening is suggested.

Wazir - Movie Review

Verdict - "A fascinating thriller with a dumb storyline."

Two of Bollywood's finest actors working together in a high-octane thriller that comprises around a chess game?

Well, that seems a bit weird, but I've been looking forward to this movie for many reasons not only because of Farhan and Amitabh but the trailers and the previews intrigued me a lot and it steadily became one of my most anticipated movies of the year.

Provided that, did my immense expectations spoiled the movie for me? Or did it hold up? Let's find out!

After losing her daughter in a devastating shootout, the cheerless and the distressed Danish Ali (Farhan Akhtar) unexpectedly meets Omkar Nath Dhar (Amitabh Bachchan) who tries to mend his broken soul by helping him learn and play chess during his leisure time. Subsequently, after learning the tragic past of Omkar and the suspicious death of his daughter. Danish attempts to reopen the case that involves huge political names behind it.

I love when thrillers were well-constructed and fascinating in every step. Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Abhijat Joshi's impressive screenplay were one of the reasons why I enjoyed watching this film for the most part. They made sure that suspense was intact throughout the entire film and unhooked all the twists and turns ingeniously.

But, a superlative screenplay couldn't solitarily save the film. An amalgamation of an alluring story and a stimulating screenplay should help and Wazir hugely slips back in telling a good intellectual story. It accommodates itself all the suitable situations without any jeopardy and makes the viewer look daft and inane.

But the performances from Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar and the astonishing guest appearance from Neil Nitin Mukesh were the highlights of the entire film. Their appealing screen presence and the chemistry between the leads worked fantastically especially during their interactions that were very well written.

Nevertheless, Wazir convinces in building up a fascinating thriller with a dumb storyline and misses out a great opportunity of being a riveting cinema and an early commercial hit of 2016. It is certainly worth watching once but is easily forgettable.

Dil Dhadakne Do - Movie Review

Verdict - "DDD is just one step away from being a failure. Thanks to the cast and the distinct approach of the movie."

Affluent look, gigantic cast, ingenious crew and with an eighty-six crore budget things should never go wrong for any movie. But in the cinematic universe that we live in right now, everything is uncertain, movies may disappoint and indeed can turn into a disaster (take Bombay Velvet as an example.) So my expectations were extremely low for Dil Dhadakne Do and I never envisioned it to be good. But with the benefit of doubt, I ended up liking the movie and cherished it for being authentic.

Advancing with a bumpy journey of love and hate, Kamal and Neelam Mehra (prominently known as The Mehra's) decide to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary on an extravagant cruise as they invite their arduous family and covetous friends to join them on their journey of splendor. But?

The two leading ladies of the movie -- Zoya Akhtar, and Reema Kagti made sure that their message was up-front in the movie and they never felt timid to display the distinct side of a well-heeled person. Moreover, it was interesting to watch the silliness and lunacy between these people and the way it was executed was totally amusing.

Here's my problem with the movie. All the fun, love, emotion, despair and empathy can be a solid two-hour long entertainer. But this movie stretches far too long till it reaches an exasperated place of tedium. It is nearly three-hour long for no clear reason and struggled deliriously during its runtime.

But a pleasing and a satisfying climax is the most worthy and essential aspect for a conflicting movie. For a second time, the finale was never satiating for the entire movie and felt unexpected.

Backed up with tremendous star power, performances from the entire cast in the movie were astounding to watch. Everyone had a moment or two to shine and the chemistry between them worked well as they're believable as a family.

Nevertheless, Dil Dhadkne Do is a refreshing movie with an admirable message, lavish look, and amusing humor. But the 172-minute runtime and few mundane parts makes the movie a little tiresome to watch. Keep your expectations low and you'll never be dissatisfied.

Shaadi Ke Side Effects - Movie Review

Verdict - “Promising and Entertaining! Farhan and Vidya's Performances Are Not to be Missed”.

Two of my favourites, Farhan and Vidya in a unique comedy, obviously my expectations were pretty high. I awaited for few good laughs and a heartfelt storyline, did it bestow me what I waited for? Or did it fall into the generic romantic-comedy category?

Siddharth and Trisha (Farhan & Vidya) are a delighted married couple who always take a crack at something unusual to uphold their happy married life. One day, Trisha reveals that she is pregnant and expresses that she is ready to have a child. With a cynical impression on having a child, Siddhrath requests Trisha, that they still need time to settle in their careers. Agreeing with the situation, Trisha prepares to undergo the medical process. Meanwhile Siddharth finds a reason to abort the operation after experiencing something important.

Eventually, Trisha gives birth to a baby girl (Mili) and the usual teeting troubles intiate between the couple, how did they prevail over these situations, narrates the further part of the movie.

Saketh Chaudhary (writer and director) jotted a well based storyline with a perfect mental picture about his objective. Attempting to convey a message, Saketh's writing was amusing and compelling for the most part, even though few excusable flaws originated in the transition.

The first half was perfectly paced with hilarious moments, the illustrative style of unfolding a practical joke was imposing and fresh. The post-marriage circumstances are really well shown in a pragmatic style. Entertained!

The second half whirls to the other side, it efforts to go across few dramatic segments where we actually start to care about these individuals and their opinions and that's the point where it got miscarried by including few unwanted scenes. The whole segment of Siddharth starting a whole new life style was underwhelming and less compassionate. Although it delivered the central message considerably, it could've been great if it's trimmed flawlessly.

Was awestricken with the cinematography, it was really well managed with all the glittering lights used and the technical department supported it properly with shimmering interiors and costume designs.

Farhan and Vidya are certainly the soul of the movie, their comical timing was seamless and are absolutely believable as a married couple. The unsullied character played by Farhan reflects a different shade from what he's done before, as he impersonates it with perfection. The irresistible allure that Vidya's brought to her character was remarkable.

On the whole, did it reach my towering expectations? Not really! Did I enjoy it for the most part? Absolutely! SKSE is a promising movie which produced something we really expect and will absolutely tickle the audience of every class. An enjoyable watch!

My Rating - 3.25/5
Grade - B (Entertaining with noticeable flaws!)
