Top 5 Overrated Bollywood Actresses

With increasing competition and ruthless judgement from the audience on all the ladies of Bollywood, there are a few who might find social media alerts like these, helpful to up their games. Here are the Top 5 such Actresses who could use a wake up call in their careers.

5. Kriti Sanon

Now, I haven't got much to complain about Kriti Sanon except pointing out how ordinary she is. She has the considerable fame and supports to take up new types of roles but she prefers the cute and kind girl next door. The concept of "girl next door" is overrated already and the present generation expect actresses to surprise them by being more expressive as well as experimental. Kriti amongst all the competition with actresses like Alia Bhatt, Shraddha Kapoor, Kiara Advani and Taapsee Pannu has managed to create a notable fame for herself and its time she really makes good use of it. Adding to that her performances in 'Heropanti', 'Dilwale', 'Raabta' and '1 Nenokkadine' are okay and being called an 'okay actress' is nearly the worst thing. But since she's still young and spirited, maybe we can hope for some memorable films by her in the future.

4. Disha Patani

Still a newbie, you may be thinking that it's unfair to judge her this soon but honestly, I don't see her being successful in the future years at Bollywood at all. She is dumber than Kriti Sanon judging by her crummy and forgettable performances in 'Baaghi 2', 'Kung Fu Yoga' and 'Loafer' (Telugu). But, I also agree that she was sweet to look at in 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story'. Her smile gave her the overnight fame along with a title national crush which faded away just as quickly which brings me to point out how inexpressive she is and also that it gets really difficult to analyse the gravity of her emotions in a particular scene. (sound similar to Kristen Stewart?) But then again she has adequate attention on her to change her path and we really hope she does.

3. Kareena Kapoor Khan

Coming from a popular background, Kareena Kapoor came in prepared to slay in Bollywood. She won the Best Debut Award and till date, owns Six Filmfare Awards. But the reason she's in this list is that for her overacting. While Katrina Kaif doesn't do enough, Kareena Kapoor overdoes it. With a Sanskaari Beti constantly battling eyelashes to the crazy hyper diva, she always is either loud, jumpy or over dramatic. With the long list of her movies, she did manage to bag some good ones in between, like 'Talaash', 'Kurbaan', '3 Idiots' and 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan'. I also realized that she stays stylish and groomed no matter the character she's playing. She's always the hot doctor or the gorgeous teacher. Except for four seconds in 'Jab We Met',  she has never dared to play de-glam roles which are an admired thing these days. Her performances are predictable and similar in almost all her movies which have finally brought her down to this list.

2. Katrina Kaif

It's a very obvious choice because she is one of the worst actresses in the industry but surprisingly the most hardworking one too because everyone knows the dedication she had to learn all these dance forms and stunts while she could've paid more attention to learning Hindi and maybe taking some legit acting classes. But she wasn't all that bad in the beginning, considering some decent performances in movies like 'Meri Brother ki Dulhan', 'Rajneeti' and 'New York', but after 'Ek Tha Tiger' in 2012, which according to me was one of the most gruesome performances of hers, her success graph started descending rapidly. Her roles being very pale and annoyingly ordinary paved a way for talented actresses like Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma take over her limelight. 'Bang! Bang!', 'Baar Baar Dekho', 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan', 'Dhoom 3' and the latest 'Tiger Zinda Hai' are all reflections of her dreary portrayals of trivial roles. It's high time she starts improving or she'll always remain the unskilled and dull eye candy of Bollywood.

1. Jacqueline Fernandez

When I say I've saved the best for the last, I wholeheartedly meant it. I don't have much to assert since famous critics like Rajeev Masand and Anupama Chopra have done it for me. If there is an actress who I never feel sorry for when she gets poor reviews, its Jacqueline. Her performance in her debut despite winning the Best Debut Award was slammed by critics who said "easy on the eyes, appears confident but has precious little to do" which in my opinion, applies to all her movies. Some of her other reviews so far include comments like "she's a pinprick on a balloon","she's a blathering bimbo who finds no pleasure in her role" and also "she struts around like a wound up automaton that is all decked up but has nowhere to go" which may all seem very rude but if you've watched some of her movies then you know that she's really happy and annoying most of the time. But I personally appreciate her performances in 'Brothers' as well as 'Roy' but since both of them were commercial flops, she's probably sticking to playing the over-energetic eye candy or an item dancer. Her Hollywood debut is barely known due to horrible advertising in India but right now, it's important that she doesn't repeat her past mistakes and gets smarter if she wants to survive in this fast growing industry.

Ahmed Khan to Start Working for Baaghi 3 from Next Month!

While 'Baaghi 2' released today at the theaters, the makers of the high octane action thriller have already planned for its sequel in no time. Ahmed Khan, who made his directorial debut has been roped in to helm the third installment of the franchise as well.

Now the bigger question is, which Tollywood movie will they remake this time? Cause 'Baaghi' is basically a soft remake of 'Varsham' and 'Baaghi 2' is a remake of the smash-hit 'Kshanam'.

Here's a statement from the director “We will begin the work on it in full swing from next month. The scripting will take some time and designing the action, too, will take time, as we have to take it several notches higher. It all depends on how and when the script shapes up and what action I can think of and come up with, and what Sajid Nadiadwala approves. Baaghi 3 should look better,” Khan told PTI.

The only concern that Ahmed had while working for 'Baaghi 2' was whether he would be able to have a great opening – as good as the first one.

“The first one had opened at Rs 12 crore, that was the only fear. For us, the trailer of the second part has worked well. The only reason for me to do the film was Sajid Nadiadwala, Tiger Shroff, and action,” says Khan.

With Baaghi 3, Ahmed feels sequels are a better bet for directors as well as producers as audiences find a sequel a better watch than a solo, standalone film.

Disha Patani to Replace Kriti Sanon in Mohit Sur's Upcoming Film!?

As we all know, Mohit Suri is planning a film with Aditya Roy Kapur and 'Raabta' fame Kriti Sanon is rumored as the lead actress. But, as per the recent reports, it seems Disha Patani is all set to replace the Raabta actor in the film.

According to a report by DNA, Suri had approached Sanon in the first place but her dates for this film clashed with those allotted for Housefull 4. Suri reportedly didn't intend to suspend his schedule and hence considered Patani for the same role.

The DNA report also suggests that sources within the industry claim that a confirmation regarding this development will be out soon (in about a week) as Patani gives her nod to do the film. The film is reportedly a love triangle. While Aditya and Patani (if she accepts the offer) are two characters in the film, another male lead will also be roped in.

M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story - Movie Review

Verdict - "Still feels like an Untold Story"

Directed by Neeraj Pandey and starring Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role, M.S. Dhoni: An Untold Story enlightens the childhood and the early life of one of the most decorated Indian Cricket Team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The film gives us a brief tour about Dhoni's tough struggle before making it to the National Team, the decisions and the sacrifices he had to make, his first job as a ticket collector in a railway station, his relationship with his family, ex-girlfriend and his wife. Piecing together the significant moments from his young manhood, the film also compounds a highlight reel of all the crucial moments from his eminent career like winning the first ever T20 World Cup or endearing the win of the fifty over World Cup nearly after 28 years.

With well over three hours of runtime, this film had a lot to offer, set up and develop but in the end, it still leaves with many crucial questions which are left without being answered or displayed. It felt more like a celebration of the person other than being a memoir that gives us more insight and understanding of the illustrious icon. Don't get me wrong, the first half of the film provides us few enlivening moments about how Dhoni transpired himself from a football goalkeeper to cricket wicket-keeper and from a TC to the captain of the Indian Cricket Team. But in the second half of the film up until the climax where we get to explore the sentimental relationship with his  ex-girlfriend and current wife was tedious to watch and it felt like they're just crammed in there to complete the storyline.

When portraying a person who was admired and beloved all over the country, the performance should be accurate and flawless and SSR went above and beyond with his portrayal in the film. His body language, charisma, and mannerisms were spot on and he brought the much-needed authenticity to the character when needed. Other supporting characters like Anupam Kher and Kumund Mishra gave few exceptional performances that were noteworthy

On the whole, they're many encouraging and inspiring moments in the film that were fascinating to watch. And discovering that hard work and struggle that he had to go through to achieve his goal was truly amazing to watch. With that being said, with a three-hour runtime, this film still feels like a half-baked hagiography where we are left with unrequited questions and dilemma.

My Rating - 2.75/5
Grade - C + (Decent Flick!)
