'Salute' Starring SRK to Start Shooting from September!

February 20, 2018

Although Shah Rukh Khan is not in one of his best forms in the past few years, King Khan is still one of the busiest actors working in B Town today. Though he is currently working with Aanand L Rai for "ZERO", he's been approached by Siddharth Roy Kapoor from UTV Motion Pictures to star in the biopic of astronaut Rakesh Sharma, which is tentatively titled "Salute".

According to a recent report, sources say that he might start shooting for "Salute" from September of this year. Here's the statement, "SRK wants to start shooting in September and continue for two months before he starts promoting "ZERO", which releases on Christmas. After that, he will resume Salute's shoot from January 2019. The film is expected to release next year."

Interestingly, Aamir Khan was first approached for the biopic, but he had to decline because he is busy with "Thugs Of Hindostan" and he himself recommended Shah Rukh Khan’s name to them. WOW!

On the other side, "ZERO" is all set to hit the theatres on 21 December 2018 and will also star Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif.

'Aitraaz' Sequel in Works with Priyanka Chopra!

February 20, 2018

Aitraaz, directed by Abbas-Mustan was one of the most successful films back in 2004 and is also one of the breakout films for Priyanka Chopra, as she won numerous accolades and was appreciated for her antagonist role. The latest reports from the tinsel town suggest that the sequel is on the cards and Peecee is being considered to return, which is the exciting part.

According to reports, producer Subhash Ghai is already in talks with Priyanka Chopra for the second part of the film. “It’s a new story with a new title. Subhash Ghai has already had a word with Priyanka Chopra and the two have discussed the film. She loves the idea of a sequel to a film which won her accolades for her performance in a negative role and is excited to feature in the second installment of the franchise. She is keen to collaborate with Ghai again and has even told him that she will try working on her dates,” a source reveals to a leading daily.

Hopefully, if everything goes as planned, the filming will start by the end of this year.

Aiyaary - Honest Movie Review

February 18, 2018

Verdict - "The Worst!"

Two talented lead actors, one celebrated director, a sixty-crore budget and an engaging source material, all the essential traits needed for a commercially successful film met. What could possibly go wrong? Sounds and seems like an entertaining film for me. Now, after watching the film, I asked myself only one question, At which spot will this "trainwreck of a film" end up in my "Top 5 Worst Bollywood Movies of 2018" list?

Normally at this point in any one of my reviews, I would typically introduce the plot just to give you guys an idea of what the movie is all about. But, for this particular review, I feel it's unnecessary and pointless (hopefully this will be the last time) to elaborate. Cause, firstly, the film didn't have a clear-cut storyline and secondly, if it did, I didn't understand any of it. Surprising? Isn't it?

Nonetheless, Neeraj Pandey is a successful director with a 100% track record and that's tough to maintain. However, it's hard to believe that a writer-director who gives immense importance to the storyline and screenplay would make such an atrocious film like Aiyaary which is awfully boring and impotent at the same time. The whole 160-minute runtime was this slow, mundane, absurd, frustrating build-up which is never really resolved anything in the climax which is the most aggravating part. The patchy screenplay is downright horrendous cause you will never understand where the movie is going, why is it extremely long and why certain scenes exist. Honestly, I can't even recollect the film now and it's only been two hours since I've seen it.

Advancing to the performances, Manoj Bajpayee didn't fail to impress as he did the best he could with his lackluster character. Sidharth Malhotra was decent, he's not bad or exceptional, again due to the lifeless character, you can't cheer, feel or even connect with his character which was a letdown. Rakul Preet Singh and Pooja Chopra were just present for the sake of it as they add no interest to the film.

Let's wrap this up quickly, overall, Aiyaary is undoubtedly one of the worst films I've seen in a very long time. The dreadful screenplay, purposeless storyline and the exhausting runtime baffles you with boredom, outrage, and disgust. It's been a long time since I've seen people leave the auditorium with expressions which are unerringly negative and that's not a good sign at all.

Shah Rukh Khan REJECTED Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Movie Offer!?

February 17, 2018

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been on a roll lately, his last controversial film "Padmaavat" is a major box-office success and the director is very keen to make a movie with SRK although his last three films starred Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. He even offered not one but two films to SRK but the actor refused them both.

As reported by a leading daily, Shah Rukh Khan has turned down Bhansali's films. A source told the daily. "Shah Rukh is not doing Sanjay's film anymore. They had several meetings to discuss the scripts in hand last year, but nothing really worked out. SRK politely turned down the movies that were offered to him."

The source adds, "SLB and SRK are both extremely professional. They don't let work affect their personal equation. They are good friends and they remain so. They have promised to work together on something very soon."

Well, did SRK make a wise decision cause Bhansali is a celebrated director and doing a film with him is definitely a no-brainer. What do you guys think? Let us know in the comments below.

Kriti Sanon to Star as the Lead in 'Ek Villain 2'!?

February 17, 2018

Although the majority of the movie critics slammed "Ek Villain" with negative reviews, the movie is undeniably a box-office success and that's all that matters. Now, the makers of the film Balaji Motion Pictures are very keen to make a sequel with Sidharth Malhotra remaining as the male lead, but, we might not see Shraddha Kapoor coming back.

As per latest reports from the film city, the producers are very keen to cast the New Delhi bombshell Kriti Sanon as the female lead. This comes off as a surprise cause Kriti is relatively new to Bollywood and is yet to star in a major successful movie.

Here's a statement from an anonymous source, "Though Kriti Sanon's "Raabta" didn't do anything great for her; the actress was appreciated for her work in "Bareilly Ki Barfi" that has turned the favor on her side. Same goes for Sidharth. His last few films like "Baar Baar Dekho" and "A Gentleman" tanked at the box-office but after Ittefaq, many filmmakers are said to have thought of approaching him. Also, Sidharth and Sanon have not been paired as yet so few of the makers are very keen on casting them together in a film."

Kriti is busy shooting for "Arjun Patiala" opposite Diljit Dosanjh and hopefully, we'll see her star in "Ek Villain 2".

February 14, 2018

The gigantic multi-starrer featuring Nagarjuna and Nani is moving full-force ahead and director Sriram Aditya (Bhale Manchi Roju and Shamantakamani fame) is in plans to launch the film on February 24 and the principal shooting will begin in the first week of March.

According to recent reports, the makers who were on the look-out for the female leads in the film have reportedly locked down the elegant and beautiful Kannada actress Shraddha Srinath who is well-known for her roles in "U-Turn" and also in last year's "Kaatru Veliyidai" as she will be paired opposite to Nagarjuna.

Nevertheless, the producers are still looking for a second actress who will be paired up opposite Nani and it should very interesting to see who will they choose. Hopefully, the grand debut of Shraddha Srinath in Tollywood will be a major success.

Amy Jackson to Romance Salman Khan in 'Kick 2'!?

February 14, 2018

Earlier this month, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment announced their next project as "Kick 2", and disclosed Salman Khan’s name as the male lead. In "Kick (2014)" we saw the hot ravishing Sri Lankan beauty Jacqueline Fernandez flatter all of us with her sexy looks, but, it is reported that Jacqueline will not be seen in the sequel as her role ended in the first installment and this film will have a different plot.

Now, according to the flying rumors, we might see the dreamy British beauty Amy Jackson take the charge as the female lead from Jacky. Amy is known for her sensuous looks back in South Indian cinema and is also surprisingly the female lead in Rajnikanth's "2.0". Amy also has a poor track record in Bollywood with her previous films, "Singh is Bliing", "Freaky Ali" and "Ek Deewana Tha" failing at the box-office.

The English bombshell is currently busy shooting for the Amercian TV series "Supergirl" where she will be portraying the character of Saturn Girl who is the founding member of the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Earlier this month, we reported that producer Dinesh Vijan is eagerly planning to write the script for "Hindi Medium 2" without the super-hot Pakistani sensation Saba Qamar as the co-lead. We've also been informed that the sequel will take a leap of 10 years and according to the recent reports, Sara Ali Khan (daughter of Saif Ali Khan) is heavily being considered to play the role of Irrfan’s grown up daughter and a college student, Pia in the sequel.

When producer Dinesh Vijan was contacted for the confirmation, he stated, “I have just finished the script and I am going to get into the casting now.”

The upcoming star, Sara Ali Khan will make her Bollywood debut this year opposite to Sushant Singh Rajput in "Kedarnath". Rumors say that she already rejected a major role offered by Anushka Sharma's production company Clean Slate Films. A rookie mistake? Let's wait and watch!

Lately, the film has been in news quite often because of the alleged romantic-relationship between Ranbir and Alia who were been named as the new hot couple in the Tinseltown.

Nevertheless, apart from the lead cast, "Brahmastra" will also feature veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan in a prominent role and is scheduled to hit the theatres on August 15, 2019.

Foxy Bollywood Diva Jacqueline Fernandez who will be seen recreating Madhuri Dixit’s superhit song 'Ek Do Teen' in Tiger Shroff's "Baaghi 2", has said the song is her tribute to the Bollywood’s dancing diva.

Asked if there was any pressure when she first heard that she was going to recreate Madhuri’s iconic song, Jacqueline said, “I think that was my first stress that how can we recreate something so iconic like ‘is it even possible’. It made a lot easier for me when I understood that it’s not possible, we are not trying to match up to what Madhuri Dixit and Saroj (Khan) Ji did.” “We are honestly here as big fans of their work and more than anything, this is honestly a tribute to the amazing, iconic number that they gave to us.”

Pad Man - Honest Movie Review

February 10, 2018

Starring Akshay Kumar and Radhika Apte in the lead roles, Pad Man is loosely based on the real-life story of Coimbatore based Social Entrepreneur Padma Shri Arunachalam Muruganantham who excelled with his innovation of affordable sanitary pads in India.

As you guys already knew about the primary storyline (I'm assuming that you've seen the trailers) of the film, let's quickly move on to the overall positives.

First off, I should indeed admire Akshay Kumar, R. Balki, and Twinkle Khanna for producing a significant film with an influential subject which is a taboo in India. As Akshay Kumar stated, he didn't want to turn this film into a documentary but considered to make it commercial with the intention of reaching a wider audience and I honestly appreciate his reasoning.

If you've seen his earlier films, you should be familiar with Balki's work and the way he gets you emotionally invested in his characters. During the course of the film, I sometimes found myself tearing up a little and that only transpired because I'm fully rooting for the lead characters which I consider as the major plus points for the film.

As I always mumble in most of my reviews, when the characters are properly developed and were given enough character moments, we naturally root and get behind them which in turn favors the film during the emotionally impactful or climactic scenes. Furthermore, the performances should also aid the well-written characters and Akshay Kumar along with Radhika Apte was fantastic in their roles.

Akshay Kumar continues to surprise me not only with his unique choice of films but also with his magnificent character work and performance. His normal-courteous-average look made his character more relatable as he carried his innocent yet intellectual persona flawlessly. Likewise, Radhika Apte carries on to mesmerize everyone with her remarkable performance and is one of the only few actors who prefer content over masala and I should applaud her for that.

On the other side, they're a few negatives, the screenplay by R. Balki and Swanand Kirkire was sub-par which affected the pace of the film primarily in the first half that felt a bit stretched out. Also, we're well aware that 70% of the film was fictionalized and I normally don't complain when the dramatized storyline blends well with the actual storyline. But, more or less, the screenwriters fizzled out in this area when a few things happen which are easily convenient to the storyline as they're ridiculous to watch. Likewise, the sub-plot involving Sonam Kapoor's character and her addition to the film felt undercooked and uninteresting.

Overall, discounting all the negatives, Pad Man is a significant film with a strong influential message which should be articulated to everyone especially to the people living in the rural areas who still, to this day feel that menstrual cycle is something taboo. Kudos to all the producers and the crew for putting in the effort to deliver a much-needed message that will only improve our country's acumen.

TOP 5 INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT 'AIYAARY'

February 8, 2018

1. Heart of 'Aiyaary'

“Aiyaary is a spy thriller at the heart of it,” Sidharth Malhotra summarizes the film’s concept.

More than being just a thriller, it seems as though the movie depicts the themes of patriotism, loyalty, and morality. In particular, it shows a mentor and his protégé: two Indian Army officers with a patriotic heart who suddenly have a fallout.

The mentor, Colonel Abhay Singh (Manoj Bajpayee) has intelligence par excellence and has complete faith in the system of the country. Protégé Major Jai Bakshi (Sidharth Malhotra) thinks otherwise because of what he has witnessed in his recent stint in surveillance. Jai Bakshi turns rogue and Abhay has 36 hours to find Jai, as Jai withholds a secret that can bring down the Government.

Whilst the story seems very intriguing, one wonders what ‘Aiyaary’ really means and how it is relevant to the film.

Talking to the media, Neeraj Pandey explains: “The title of the film explains the term as a person who is a chameleon in character and works towards mastering in all given situation. It means master of Behrupiya.”

2. The Initial Title of 'Baby'!?

Did you know that Pandey had initially decided upon the title 'Aiyaary' not for the upcoming film, but for his hit film 'Baby' starring Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, and Taapsee Pannu? The 2015 film which was an espionage thriller was initially titled 'Aiyaary' but later changed to 'Baby', which refers to a covert operation in the film.

3. Shot in Real Locations

A self-confessed fan of the thriller genre, Malhotra is thrilled to don the uniform for the first time and reveals that this is “one of the most real films” he has worked on, so far. “There are no sets as we shot in real locations. This is probably the closest depiction of real-life spies who are invisible to common man. They’ve been taught to merge in the crowd, not get noticed and get relevant information. You won’t see us in glamorous roles or with James Bond-like characters,” he says while explaining the film’s title, which means ‘the ultimate trickery’.

4. Real Reason Behind the Postponement

The movie refers to a real-life scam surrounding the army and the government that looks to have bothered the officials. If you have seen the trailer, you know that Aiyaary deals with the corruption in certain sections of the army. The movie, it seems, takes inspiration for one of its subplots from the real-life land scam of the Adarsh Housing Society, that's located in Colaba, Mumbai.

In the movie, there are scenes where Sidharth Malhotra and Pooja Chopra's characters are heard referring to a plot in 'Colaba'. Naseeruddin Shah's (who has a cameo in the movie) character is linked to this subplot, where he is playing the watchman of the said plot. He mentions that the property reserved for widows of martyred soldiers will be taken over by politicians and their cronies.

This was something that happened in real-life as well when in 2010, the scam was revealed where several politicians, bureaucrats, and top military brass were involved in grabbing flats in Adarsh society, which was at below-market rates, that were reserved for the army widows. The reveal of the scam led to the resignation of the then Maharashtra CM Ashok Chavan, while the late Vilasrao Deshmukh, Sushilkumar Shinde and Shivajirao Nilangekar Patil, two former urban development ministers, Rajesh Tope and Sunil Tatkare, were also said to be involved in the scam. The CBI is currently investigating the claim.

5. The First

This will be Sidharth Malhotra's first collaboration with Neeraj Pandey, his first army based film and also his first film with Manoj Bajpayee.

Hindi Medium 2 in Works Without Saba Qamar!

February 8, 2018

Hindi Medium was a massive hit in 2017 not only because of the music, comedy or performances but also for the storyline and the message it portrayed to the public about the Indian Educational System. We here at Just for Movie Freaks quoted Hindi Medium as the "Best Film of 2017" and it rightfully deserves all the accolades.

Producing a sequel to the film was a no-brainer and Producer Dinesh Vijan is reportedly already in works to bring back the franchise.

A source stated, "The story flash-forwards by a decade so five-year-old Pia will be in her teens now, around 15-16 years. The story will be a fresh take on the Indian educational system with little reference to the original."

Sadly, the fiery Pakistani beauty Saba Qamar will not be a part of the sequel as she had told a Pakistani daily that she wishes to be a part of the sequel. She said, "After the massive success of Hindi Medium, the producers are all set for a sequel. I hope Irrfan and I get to work on the second installment of the blockbuster."

Shah Rukh Khan to Promote ZERO in a Unique Fashion!

February 6, 2018

Shah Rukh Khan is known to promote his films in a unique manner and now he is planning to do the same for his upcoming December release "ZERO" in which he'll be seen alongside Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif.

With Anushka’s "Pari" releasing on Holi, Salman Khan’s "Race 3" on Eid and Aamir Khan’s "Thugs of Hindostan" to hit the screens during Diwali, SRK has apparently planned to promote the film during all these festivals one by one.

A source close to the film said, “SRK wants to make it more of a celebration. Hence, he has decided to post titbits from the film, to commemorate each festival. The film’s official poster hasn’t been unveiled. Even the looks of Katrina Kaif and Anushka have been kept under wraps. So, SRK definitely has some plans for Holi.”

Surprisingly, Salman Khan will have a cameo in "ZERO" and the source further added, “Salman and SRK are buddies and the former even has made a cameo in a song for "ZERO". While the first teaser was just a glimpse of the character, the second one is expected to give an insight into what the film is all about. The VFX team is busy with the post-production work and the entire cast and crew is happy with the way it’s turning out.”

Lastly, the source also said that the final three-minute trailer of the film will be released with Aamir Khan’s film "Thugs of Hindostan" on Diwali 2018. Well, this marketing strategy is something we've never seen before and hopefully, it'll be a major success.
